Back to School

Dear Families,
This group of students is AMAZING!  I have had such a wonderful week with them. The majority of our time has been spent learning routines, names, how to work as a team, and what my expectations of First Graders are. This group is kind, helpful, considerate, hard working and friendly.  They have brought me great joy! The boys and girls should now know that all I expect from them is that they to DO THEIR BEST. Also, that we all make mistakes and mistakes are OK!

The students have taken such pride in our classroom and their work.  We have begun the “Daily 5” routine in our room and all children are writing and reading independently and quietly!  The boys and girls have done a fabulous job! We are working on building our stamina during “Read to Self” time.

I want to thank you for sending the blue folders back each day! Most of you have returned all of the forms I have sent home, however some are missing.  If you have not finished with the paperwork, please try to send it in as soon as possible. Again, I appreciate your attention to all of it! The information you sent back on the “Parents are Partners” form has been helpful.  Beginning next week I will be sending home homework assignmentsIt will be important for your student to have a “Homework Routine” after school.

I hope your child is enjoying our classroom as much as I am!  Please don’t hesitate to call (775-8940) and/or write a note or email if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you to all who have donated to our room, I appreciate your generosity!

Enjoy your weekend and I hope to see many of you at our Curriculum Open House on the 22nd of September. This will be a great opportunity for you to learn more about the “Daily 5”, as well as our first grade curriculum and themes.

Thanks for sharing your child with me!
Sincerely,

Janice Packard
